Home Depot: Recycle Holiday Lights Program

Do you have broken holiday lights or just want to start changing out the old and get the new energy efficient LED lights. Well now is the time. Home Depot is giving a $3 credit when you bring in an old string of holiday lights. Right now, they have 50 light strings on sale for $5.97, with the credit it will be $2.97. This program runs from Nov. 5-15 so start digging out those lights soon. Read more about the program HERE. There is a limit of 5 per customer. It does say her customer NOT per household. So if you and your spouse bring them in you can get 10, I assuming.

Old Navy: $2 Halloween Costumes

Safeway: Free Ragu

Again little slow to this deal. I knew about it but couldn't remember if Safeway was tripling this week. Well they are doing better than that, they are taking coupons up to x5! So all coupons $.20 and above will double/triple/quadruple/quintuple (not sure what the x5 is) up to $1.00.

Ragu is currently on sale for $.99. All flavors including the Alfredo sauce too. Use the $.30/1 coupon expiring 11/8, and you get it for free. There is a limit of 4 per transaction. Hubby and I went there on part of our date night tonight and did 5 transactions. All of which equaled $0.00. The self check out lady was a little confused and in shock. I love it when they are stunned and in awe that coupons can really get you things you use for free. I only order 20 additional coupons and wished I had order more. So I just placed another order for 30. Hey we can live off noodles and sauce for a year if we need to right? I hope it gets here by Tuesday, but I think it will. Collectable Coupons still has a bunch. They are fairly new and i love that they ship the same day order (if order placed before 5pm MST). There link is at the top of the page.

Some helpful tips:

*If your Register Reward doesn't print for some reason and you have fulfilled all of the obligations for the "deal" (including not using RR from the same parent company to pay) DO NOT let them tell you it is because you used coupons! Chances are they didn't print because the catalina machine is not working. You have two choices: you can return your items and try again or you can contact the catalina company by doing the following:

Everyone is always looking for a little extra income these days. I came across a great one that helps make a few extra here and there without doing too much. ReadySite is a great ad company where you can put extra little advertisements on your blog. It is really simple. You go online to register, and once approved you have access to customize your ads. Making Money at Home: Mystery Shopping

I have been asked to write a post about mystery shopping for a while now and am finally getting around to writing it. I have been a mystery shopper for a little over 5 years now. I think it is a lot of fun. I always hate it when I get bad customer service so this helps the customer service industry make the customers feel a little more at ease.

Many, many different stores hire mystery shoppers. I have done a variety of stores including banks, video gaming stores, grocery stores, outlet stores, bowling alleys, fast food, up-scale restaurants, even apartments and new home builders. The list can go on and on. One way to really bring extra income into your home is doing mystery shops at places you usually shop in the first place. Many shops do not require anything out of pocket, such as the banks, but some will require a small purchase in which you will be reimbursed for. Why not do the shop for 'Albertsons' buy $10 worth of grocerys you would normally buy, visit the required departments and talk to a few employees. Then go home fill out your report, and wah-la you are reimbursed $10 and paid $15 for your time. ($$ are estimated)

Here are a few tips:
*Never pay to become a mystery shopper! - 9 times out of 10 it will be a scam. You will pay $50 out of pocket for them to get you jobs and you will never see any. All legit companies are free to sign-up.

*Sign up for as many as possible - This seems pretty logicial but when signing up it is a pretty monotonous task. But the more companies you sign up for the more chances you have for getting a job. Also if a company says they do not have any in your area, that doesn't mean they won't have some in the future.

*Get a separate email account for mystery shopping - Once you get going, you will get anywhere from 50-100 emails a day offering shops. If you use your personal email it gets your inbox filling up very quickly. Yahoo, hotmail, gmail are just a few that offer free emails.

*Listen to other shoppers - Shoppers cannot disclose what company shops which store, but they can tell you which companies are good with paying you your fees.

*Get MSPA certified - The Mystery Shopping Providers Association offers a silver and gold certification. Both of which can now be done online. I think of the silver certification as an Associates degree and the Gold Certification as a bachelors. Some companies look to see if you have extra qualifications. Many times you can get more shops if you have the extra qualifications.

*Go to Mystery Shopper Forums - Visit Volition.com and see the list of companies that are shopper approved. They will give you extra insight if the company is in your area and if they shops 'big box, restaurants, hotel, etc'

Remember this is not a 'great rich quick' sort of thing. It will take a while before you are able to get your monthly income up. After shopping for a while, you will start to have companies contact you directly about doing a shop rather than putting it on the boards. I will start to do spotlights on different companies I have shopped for.

Walgreens had such an awesome week with RRs. I still have a bunch to roll. I am glad there are some deals this week as well. Not quite as many as last but still a pretty good week.

You can actually get the movie for free (with the exception of tax). Jen went to Toys R Us and they are having a promo where you get a $5 gift card when you purchase the movie. It is priced at $19.99 but then you use the $10 coupon, which brings the price to $9.99. You then get a $5 gift card (to be used on your next purchase) which in essence brings the price down to $5.
